Rifle Mountain Park, located 30 minutes North of Rifle, Colorado is a climber’s dream come true.
The focus of this clinic is sport climbing, with an emphasis on
- how to improve technique, footwork and conserve energy
- redpointing tactics
- projecting a route near or at your limit
- diminish fear of falling and improve commitment with the Warrior’s Way mental training techniques
Chicks Co-Owner’s Kitty Calhoun and Angela Hawse will lead our Rifle Climbing Clinic.
I got a community of climbers, I got new friends! I got stoked. I got some great photos. Elaina was so patient and kind, I really felt a sincere connection–and that makes it easy to learn. (Thanks Elaina!)–Susan M, Chicks Rifle Climbing Clinic participant.

Rifle is a two-mile-long, limestone canyon, that lines a meandering mountain stream.
The canyon offers both sunny and shady climbing options.
The blocky, featured rock requires climbers to unlock sequences of side-pulls, pinches, knee-bars, and opposition forces to gain upward progress.
Famed for long, steep, physically demanding routes, don’t let Rifle deter you. There are stellar routes all the way through the grades, starting at 5.6. With more than three hundred routes and over twenty different crags, Rifle provides a wealth of climbing challenge on either top rope or on lead.
This clinic is recommended for intermediate and advanced level climbers who are learning to lead climb indoors, looking to transition their skills to do more outdoor climbing, or improve outdoor lead climbing skills. For those of you who don’t yet lead, but have the desire to learn, this is also a great clinic option for you as well.
Just 2.5 hours from Denver and a reasonable half-day drive from Salt Lake City, this is an entire climbing experience.
Peaceful car camping within walking distance to beautiful, world-class climbing.
The goal of the Rifle Climbing Clinic is to expand your ability.
Learn advanced techniques that can help you break into higher grades.
Project climbs and explore advanced movement skills.

Rifle is a must-seize opportunity
I seriously had so much fun. I feel I’ve truly made some amazing, lifelong, climbing partners/friends! I also really liked that we were able to use any belay device we were comfortable with. I know you all like the Petzl Gri Gri, but I must say I’m totally digging the Mammut Smart Belay device. Thanks for allowing me to dial that in.
