Chicks Climbing has been improving women’s climbing skills and movement for over twenty years and we are excited to revisit one of our favorite places to climb on the East Coast.

The New River Gorge Climbing Clinic offers beginner to advanced Instruction Levels.
Our climber-to-guide ratio is 4:1 so you get tons of instruction. Our personal goal is to build your confidence and self-reliance.
- Improve your climbing technique on technical face climbs and splitter cracks
- Learn technical skills like how to access and set up top rope anchors and then how to clean it once you’re done
- Become more comfortable climbing outdoors
- Learn about lead climbing, lead belaying
Our New River Gorge Climbing Clinic provides a fun, safe, and encouraging climbing-learning environment led by the best female guides in the industry.
The New River Gorge National River is located in Southern West Virginia and has an endless amount of single pitch sport and trad climbs for all levels. Many of the cliffs have easy top access so you can learn how to set up a top-rope anchor so you can top-rope climb safely with your climbing partners.
One hundred foot high, Nuttall Sandstone cliffs run through the heart of the park, making 1800 rock climbs with amazing views of the river which snakes through the bottom of the gorge. It’s known as the Grand Canyon of the East and has some of the best rock quality you will ever lay your hands on. There is no shortage of rock at Chicks New River Gorge, WV Climbing Clinic.

This program will be run through New River Mountain Guides, who are permitted through the National Park Service and employs Chicks Guides for this program.

PROPOSED SCHEDULE:
Day 1:
Arrive at the campsite by 4:00 pm to get settled in
4:30 pm: Kick-off meeting at the group campsite. Orientation, hand out demo gear and meet with your climbing group.
5:30 pm: Dinner at campsite
Day 2:
7:00 am: Breakfast provided at camp.
8:00 am: Meet at the group campsite geared up for the day
4:30 pm: Climbing day ends
6:00 pm: Dinner at campsite
Day 3:
7:00 am: Breakfast provided at camp.
8:00 am: Meet at the group campsite geared up for the day
4:30 pm: Climbing day ends
6:00 pm: Dinner at campsite
Day 4:
7:00 am: Breakfast provided at camp.
8:00 am: Meet at the group campsite geared up for the day
3:30 pm: Climbing day ends, Hand in demo gear, closing meeting
**Lodging and dinner are not included on the last day of our programs. If you want to spend an extra night, please make your own lodging arrangements.
Chicks Climbing and Skiing PAYMENT REFUND policy:
We require a registration deposit at the time of booking. The deposit will hold your spot, with the remaining balance due 60 days prior to the start date. You are also welcome to pay in full!
Please submit all refund requests in writing.
We issue full refunds, transfer to another course or credit towards a future course according to the following schedule:
- More than 60 days prior to start date – Full refund minus 10% administration fee
- 30-60 days prior to start date – 50% refund minus 10% administration fee
- Less than 30 days prior to the start date – no refund!
