Women’s Advanced Ice Movement – Ouray, CO – January 9 & 10, 2021
How to Climb Steep Ice
This 2 day clinic is designed for the ice climber working on their ice movement proficiency. If you’ve been climbing ice for a few seasons and feel like you hit a wall the minute the climb is steep to overhanging, Chicks is here for you!
We will focus on the basics of body mechanics: from where we derive our power and ensure our tools, feet, and body positioning are precise and intentional.
Additional points of focus will be:
- Learning how to be patient, resting/shaking out, and breathing techniques
- Route assessment; beforehand, in the moment and anticipating throughout
- Advanced body positioning and footwork
Our goal is for you to leave the clinic having worked on your technique, gained new skills to utilize on steep ice and have a plan for your continued development as an ice climber.
