heli-skiing in Telluride, CO

Telluride Helitrax morning session in Yankee Boy Basin. Great views of Potosi, Teakettle and Mt. Sneffles. Feb 23, 2011

This womens heli skiing trip is a bucket list trip that will take you to some of the most beautiful mountains anywhere to ski untracked powder with a gaggle of Chicks that know how to have fun.  We think it’s as good as it gets and know you will agree.  We’ve partnered for our womens heli-ski day with Telluride Helitrax because they are simply the best.  Their small, family owned business has been in operation for over 30 years and they deliver consistently exceptional experiences for their guests.

Our team of women guides on this trip have years of experience working for Helitrax and are recognized as some of the best in the industry.  Most of the terrain, accessed with a state of the art Eurocopter A-Star B3e, is the highest in North America with elevation ranges from 10,000 – 13,500 feet.  Each run gets approximately 1,000 – 3,000 vertical with 6 runs being a full-day.  If we get weathered out, the cost of your heli-ski day is refunded or you can schedule another day.  Having the Telluride Ski Resort as a backup if it’s dumping is a pretty sweet alternative.

Our warm-up day is a casual girls day out at the famous Telluride Ski Resort.  Nothing formal, just a gaggle of gals looking for the goods, sharing tips, techniques and exploring all this incredible resort has to offer.  This is not a guided day but your heli-ski guides will accompany you to get the lay of the land and send you down some of the finest runs in North America.  The day structured like this keeps your costs to a minimum and leaves you the freedom to ski as much or as little as you desire, but it’s a great warm-up for what’s to come.

More details about Telluride Helitrax

*In the event of a heli-skiing cancellation due to weather, you will be refunded $1055.  If you choose to ski at the Telluride Ski Resort, you need to purchase a lift ticket.  One lift ticket only (Day 2) is included in the program cost.  If Day 2 is flyable and there are seats available we may opt to heli-ski in the event that Day 3 has a poor weather forecast.

Cancellations due to weather are unforeseeable and simply one of the risks of heli-skiing.  On average Helitrax typically has less than 10% of their season cancel due to weather.  They do the best they can to get their skiers out the door.

Helitrax will have other skiers the same day we ski and it’s likely they will not all be women.  The helicopter safety briefing, shuttle, lunch and apre ski may be in the company of other Helitrax guests.  However in the mountains we will ski independently with a 4:1 ratio.  We may opt to do several runs together as a larger group which is customary and fun.
